For the past two years we have enjoyed Sunday Suppers at Penrose, Pizzaiolo, Chez Panisse, Boot & Shoe Service and Miss Ollie’s.
Select East Bay restaurants host a family style menu to benefit local non-profits.
And we got a sneak preview of this Sunday’s menu at Penrose in Oakland. It sounds delicious as always.
See the menu below.
The proceeds from the July dinner at Penrose in Oakland go to Planting Justice, a grassroots organization with a mission to democratize access to affordable, nutritious food by empowering urban residents with the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to maximize organic food production, expand job opportunities, and ensure environmental sustainability in the Bay Area. You can read more about them here! And watch videos below.

Penrose on Grand Avenue, Oakland
The East Bay fine dining scene joins local community organizations for restaurateur Charlie Hallowell’s third season of the successful Sunday Suppers series. Launched in May 2014, this event now occurs every other month and brings together spectacular food and good company to raise money for a different East Bay organization working on behalf of the community. To date, they have raised almost $150K for a number of great causes.
Charlie and representatives from Planting Justice will share information about their work.
Signature cocktails may be ordered throughout the night at the cash bar.
100% of the proceeds will also be donated to the organization.
The first seating is sold out but there are still seats available at 8pm. Personally we prefer the second seating as it is more relaxed.
