About Film Finals

The 54th Film Finals is a celebration of SFSU’s rich cinematic heritage, a heritage that has seen alumni earn Oscar nominations for fifteen consecutive years. It is a supportive vessel for this emerging talent to exhibit their innovative work to the public, often for the very first time. So please come join us in rejoicing the future of cinema and enjoy “A night of film at its scrappy, heartfelt essence.” – San Francisco Bay Guardian

The festivities begin one week prior with Film Previews, a two-day marathon screening held on-campus (May 12/13), in which each and every submission is evaluated by a student-faculty jury as well as audience voting. Those earning the highest marks will go on to be screened at the 54th Film Finals, to be held for the first time ever at the renowned Sundance Kabuki Theatre on Tuesday, May 20th (doors open at 6:45pm, program begins at 7pm).
