Stage productions are regularly revived of the play that opened in 1973 and The Rocky Horror Picture Show continues to sell out cinemas with live casts—an early Augmented Reality experience that celebrates 50 years in 2025. The longest continuously running engagement of any movie in the world was RHPS at the U.C. Theatre in Berkeley—22 years. And the current cast, Barely Legal, has Bay Area shows in September and October including their annual Halloween return to the original Berkeley venue.

But what would a good time be without food?

Author and cook Kim Laidlaw has assembled a spectacular new book of 50 savory, sweet and seductive recipes and EatDrinkFilms is proud to give you a sneak preview of a meal you can make.

Kim offers a little background here:

“Taking a deep dive into the Rocky Horror Show was a thrillingly fun walk down memory lane. I spent many a midnight feature taking part in the event that is Rocky Horror during my early twenties and even my teens (sometimes my parents didn’t know about those adventures, ahem). The best thing is the story—whether you get to see the theatrical performance or a late-night showing at the local movie theater—is just as fun now as it was then. In what other musical does the entire audience know all of the lyrics, dress up as the characters, and have an entire subculture devoted to callbacks and audience participation?

One of the most fun parts of doing this book was introducing Rocky Horror to my daughter, Poppy, who is herself a theater buff, and has been acting in local musical theater since she was five years old. Thank you, Poppy, for always inspiring me, coming up with fun and crazy recipe ideas, and being willing to try just about anything I cook. A massive thank-you to my husband, Keith Laidlaw, who keeps me laughing even when a recipe test turns disastrous, always fixes the flat tires and spins the best records, and also does most of the dishes. A special thank-you to my dear mom, Ann Crowder, who happily tries all my recipes and helps share the extra food with friends and neighbors. And to my mum-in-law, Pauline Laidlaw, who, when visiting from Scotland, relishes every dessert I develop while also helping with the never-ending dishes.”

We will have a cocktail, starters bites, a ramen entree and a dessert you won’t forget. (You can open each page in a new, larger window by clicking on it.)
